THE CELEBRATION OF BUDDHA’S BIRTHDAY

Dear friends,

In accordance with Therāvādā traditions, the middle of the fourth month or Vesak in the Indian Calendar is always considered to be the most important date for the followers of Buddhism. It marks the three most significant events in the life of the Buddha namely; his Birth, his Enlightenment and his Nirvana. Thus this date is also called the Three Most Auspicious Days or the Most Treasured Buddhist Day. It is with great joy that the Sangha and members of Chùa Phật Pháp will solemnly celebrate Buddha’s birthday on Sunday, May 22, 2011 in the presence of Ven. Bửu Phương, Ven. Huyền Việt, Ven. Dhamavamsa, Ven. Devanada, Ven. Ananda, Ven. Giác Nguyên, Ven. Trí Tịnh, Ven. Trực Thắng and members of foreign Sanghas (Sri Lanka, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.)

New Landscape at Phat Phap Temple

After more than a year of construction and overcoming many difficulties, we finished building the new Buddha Garden at Phat Phap temple!

This was a major undertaking with more than an acre of renovation required. Conforming to the construction rules, we built two ponds near the entrance with drainage system and fences. All in all, we used 18 tons of dirt, 25,000 square feet of grass, 3,000 square feet of brick, 10 tons of stones and rocks, 10 tons of gravel, etc. to beautify the landscape and renovating the parking areas!
